VATS Lock Cylinder Replacement Instructions

When the VATS lock cylinder fails, either the key will not rotate properly or the key will rotate but the car will not start, tripping the 4 minute wait cycle. These problems often occurs on many GM vehicles with this system identified by a chip imbedded in the shaft of the key. These instructions will detail the disassembly of the upper steering column and the removal of the lock cylinder and wiring as well as the procedure for replacing the keys.
