This step-by-step procedure shows you how to disassemble and rebuild the upper section of your column, how to remove the steering wheel, lock plate with horn cancel cam, turn signal switch and lock cylinder on a GM tilt steering column. This is the 1st in a series of 5 instructional sets. The example used is a Chevrolet Camaro although the column design has not changed dramatically over the 30 year period from 1969-1999.

Tools Needed: Snap ring pliers, 13/16 socket & ratchet, steering wheel puller, lock plate spring compressor, 2 flate blade screwdrivers, pick or probe, phillips screwdriver, 7mm socket, ratchet, short extension, needle nose pliers, 20 torx driver.
