When the ignition switch lock cylinder rotates, it pushes and pulls this rod to activate the ignition switch. This particular design is for tilt columns with a column shift automatic transmission vehicle. GM made over a dozen different ignition actuator rod lengths.
We measure the length from the 90 degree bend of the rod to the end of the round tip of the casting attached to the rod. This rod is currently available in 9 different length (as of 2-1-2023).
