GM tilt housing bearing. GM products with tilt steering columns from 1969 through 2006 require 2 bearings in each housing. Bearing measures approx 1.5" OD, .25" deep, with the inner race (not included) 1" ID. Sold as 1 piece bearing as shown.
We are often asked about just the inner components of the bearing. As shown in the top left of the photo, the bearing consists of 3 parts...an outer metal race, a plastic carrier and balls. This is supposed to be an assembly, not individual components. Over time, the plastic carrier dries out and shrinks, allowing the balls to fall out. Once that happens the bearing is no good and cannot (should not) be reassembled. It is NOT MEANT TO COME APART. The outer race is pressed into the tilt housing and must be removed before you can install a new complete bearing assembly.
We offer a free quick overview of how to install the bearings as well as the complete set of detailed instructions for $16.95.
