The ignition switch lock cylinder and rack gears push this rod to activate the ignition switch. This design was used on models with a brake-shift interlock system incorporating a release solenoid, cable and sliding release attached to the actuator rod. GM used this design on Buick Estate Wagon & Roadmaster, Chevrolet Impala & Caprice, Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser and Cadillac Fleetwood. These are NOS (New Old Stock) GM parts.
